Festivals in Karnataka are an expression of celebration of life in its many colors . The festivities here are part and parcel of every day and they add the much needed gaiety to the monotonous routine.
Most of the festivals of Karnataka are unique to this part of India only. And each part of the state has its own schedule of festivals round the year.

palace is beautifully lit up and the grandeur
of the palace has to be seen to be believed .You also
get to see a parade of soldiers in their ceremonial

music at the Vijaya Utsav . You will
feel as if you are transported to erstwhile Vijayanagar

Tula Sankramana is celebrated in
October when it is believed that Goddess Cauvery
appears in the form of sudden swell of water
in a small tank. Vairamundi Festival celebrated
at Melkote in the month of March. Lord Vishnu idol is
decorated with diamond studded crown this day. Then
you have the Karaga festival ,which
is celebrated at the Darmaraya Temple in Bangalore .
It is in honor of Draupathi , the wife of Pandavas ,the
characters of Mahabharata
Yugadi or Ugadi is the new year day
in Karnataka . It is started with the note that life
is full of happiness and sorrow woven together . So
this day the people begin their meal with neem leaves
and jaggery . The state festival Ra j
yotsava Day commemorates the formation
of state of Karnataka , celebrated on 1 st November
every year. Other religious festivals like Diwali
and Ganesh Chaturthi are celebrated with gaiety
and fervor .

So Muslim festivals like Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Milad-un-Nabi and Moharrum
Christian festivities like Christmas , Easter, Good Friday
