Wildlife Sanctuary in South India - Andhra Pradesh is bestowed with prosperous variety of wildlife and natural beauty. The Manjira Wildlife sanctuary is formed by nine small islands, where one can find a number of animals, migratory birds and reptiles like Marsh Crocodiles and Muggers. The sanctuary is positioned 50 Km from Hyderabad and is well connected by road.
One can find a widespread growth of Babul Prosopis. Plants normally found in water are Pistia, Hydrilla, Eichornia and Vallisneria. Fishes of different species like Catla, Rahu, Murrel, Ech Paten, Karugu, Chidwa and reptiles like Monitor Lizards, Fresh Water Turtles, Cobra and Marsh Crocodiles can be seen here. Diverse species of birds found here are Painted Storks, Herons, Coots, Teals, Cormorants, Pochards, Black and White Ibises, Spoon Bills, and Open Billed Storks etc.
An Environmental Education Centre with a museum, a library, and an auditorium is situated here. It helps in humanizing the visitors about nature conservation and protection of ecological balance. Boats are in operation to take the visitors around the sanctuary for bird watching. October to March is the best time to visit to Manjira Bird & Wildlife Sanctuary.
